Castle Family Health Centers

OroMed

Castle Family Health Centers was delivering effective care across its medical programs but had no visibility into its patients’ dental needs: no formal evaluation program, no dental leadership infrastructure, and no data.

The challenge

Oral health conditions went unidentified during medical visits, and access barriers to Medi-Cal dental coverage, particularly for adults, compounded the problem. Castle wanted a partner who could quantify the unmet need and then address it.

The approach

OroMed ran a six-month pilot at Castle’s largest clinic, working with six providers across two hallways. Provider concerns about workflow disruption were answered with clinical leadership engagement and real data. The key design choice: evaluations happen during the waiting period before the provider appointment, so they add no time to the visit.

The results

The pilot became the model. Castle’s program now runs across three sites, delivering preventive dental access at scale with far better visibility into the community’s dental health needs. It is the highest-volume program in the OroMed network, with the busiest sites reaching 20 to 25 evaluations a day.
